Shortcuts
When the number of topics grows in your repository, it becomes very convenient to have shortcuts to the topics you use most, instead of loosing time searching for them every now and then... Goozzee allows each user to have his own personal list of shortcuts. They appear in a little window that you open via the Display menu.Each of these shortcuts allows you to go straight to a certain topic and to switch to a predefined scope. The shortcut window lists them grouped by scope, and sorted alphabetically inside each scope. Double-clicking on a scope label toggles its visibility; this can be pretty handy if your shortcuts list is getting huge : just double-click on the scopes you're not interested in, and their shortcuts will be hidden, leaving only the scope label visible on the window.
On this screenshot, for example, we see that the shortcuts are dispatched among five different scopes : 'Any scope' (i.e. No scope specified), 'place', 'librettist', 'nom de guerre', 'nom de plume'.
But the 'librettist' scope is hidden, showing only its label. Now, if we click on the 'Born in' shortcut, the main window will switch to the 'place' scope, and will display the 'born in' topic.
Adding new shortcuts to this list is very easy, and can be done in different ways:
- from the header of the main window, you can make a shortcut to the current topic by right-clicking on the title field, and choose 'Add to shortcuts'. The new shortcut will be assigned the current navigation scope (the one selected in the toolbar of the main window).
- from the buttons areas of the main window : right-clicking on any button shows a contextual menu that allows you to make a shortcut to the corresponding topic. The new shortcut will be assigned the current navigation scope.
- from the search window, if you want to make a shortcut to one of the topics of the result list, you can either :
- right-click on it and select 'Add to shortcuts'; a shortcut will be created, and assigned the current searching scope;
- just drag that topic and drop it onto the shortcut window. This new shortcut will be assigned the scope of the group on which you dropped it.
Removing a shortcut is simply done by right-clicking on it, in the shortcuts window, and selecting 'Delete shortcut' from the contextual menu. Right-clicking on a shortcut also allows you to modify its scope (i.e. the scope that will be activated when you click on this shortcut).
Of course, all these shortcuts are directly saved in the database. No need to explicitly save them... And they will follow you if you use Goozzee from another computer.
